We arrived in Nazare, home of the giant waves. This is where the surfing competitions take place and surfers arrive from all over the world to compete.
The ocean is right outside our hotel window, beautiful! there are a few clouds in the sky when we arrived but soon the sun was high and bright in the sky and the beach looked so inviting. Our hotel provided a nice free breaky which we took advantage of. They were also kind to provide a nice bottle of sparkling wine and a couple of Lindt chocolates for Valentines day...I ate Dales, shhhh. ;)
During our 3 day visit we walked the beaches, checked out the farmers market, on the beach the locals still dry their days catch on racks in the wind and sun. the smell was overwhelmingly fishy!
We also tried a dish called Cataplana, Portuguese fish stew, with the fresh seafood and baby potatoes it was so delicious!
Finished our visit with a beer on the beach and watched the sunset.
