We took this little antique train to the mouth of the Douro River where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. This is the first time I have seen the Ocean and it didn't let me down. the swooshing of the waves and seagulls chattering were just like I had imagined. It was a beautiful day, as we walked along the rock promenade I could see the signs of its history. there were huge tie up pins and loops. This is where the ships came in for trades all the way back in the 8th century.
I'm wondering if these are olives, more research is needed!
I thought these trees in the park were interesting. I did learn that the fruit trees like oranges and lemons were brought here by the Portuguese a long time ago.
